Empowering Communities, Enriching Lives: Education, Health, and Hope for All
Having come across the misery of the deprived children the sisters felt the need of starting a school for the blind which became a reality on 22.06.2006 at Shanti Rani School, Bara Ghaghra, Ranchi, with two students. Now the school is shifted to our center at Chanho where 63 sight impaired children are under our care.
From L.K.G to class V they are studying in our Amar Jyoti School for the Blind. To promote inclusive education to these special children, we include them in mainstream education. Class VI - X onwards they are going to St. John Mary Vianney School, Chanho to study along with normal-sighted students. The children are learning and doing well under the guidance and supervision of the trained sisters, teachers, and caretakers. The children actively participate in all the activities and co-curricular activities of the school. We print their entire text books in braille.
Till date 17 students who have completed Class 10 from our school. In the year 2019, Aarti Singh was the Jharkhand state topper among the disabled. After class 10, the students are guided and supported to study further. Most students are now enrolled in Delhi – a few in Varanasi and other centres in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
